Hey, as you know by now, I'm way into herbs and alternative healing as a way to address any health issue. With the increasingly dangerous side effects being reported from using Erectile Dysfunction medications, such as sudden blindness, potenial heart attack, and deafness, I'd rather find ways to address the issue than these horrific possibilities.
Herbs have been used successfully for thousands of years to address virtually any health issue. Erectile dysfunction is no different as there are many herbs that can be used by themselves or within a multi-herb formula to help men and women address the problem naturally, without having to worry about losing their hearing or sight.
There are many causes of erectile dysfunction, both physical causes and psychological causes. For example, our modern world causes us a great deal of stress, worry and anxiety - three big killers of a nice firm erection. Physcial causes can include the effects of other prescription drugs - antidepressants being one of the biggest culprits - as well as blood flow issues from obesity, lack of exercise, or diabetes to name a few.
Natural healing herbs can help soothe the nerves, improve your circulatory system and therefore increase blood flow to the penis or clitoris. They can also naturally supplement hormone levels in the body that decrease as we age.
Natural Healing Herbs for Impotence
Ginkgo Biloba (Ginko Biloba): This is now one of the most promising herbs for most circulatory issues and therefore is helping thousands with their impotence issues. Ginkgo works by improving the blood flow through the blood vessels, but especially those to the very small or even micro vessels. This is especially significant as the penis is composed of many of these very fine or micro veins and vessels. Ginkgo has also been found to increase sensitivity and stamina.
Panax Ginseng (Panax ginseng): Ginseng has been revered for centuries in the asian countries and many wars have been fought over its possession. Ginseng improves mental and physical ability and stamina. In asian studies, ginseng taken regularly has been shown to improve sexual functioning, sperm count, and sperm motility (i.e. the ability of sperm to move about effectively). Ginseng is safe though go easy on it as taking large amounts can lead to overstimulation and insomia. Also, avoid caffeine when using this herb.
Damiana (Turnera Aphrodisiaca) : Damiana has been used as an aphrodisiac for many thousands of years by various tribal groups. The herb inceases sexual desire and kick-starts the libido. There has been research that has demonstrated Damiana helps men to maintain an erection longer and to achieve a satisfactory ejaculation. And it ain't just for the men, either as Damiana has been found to increase sexual desire and pleasure in women.
Yohimbe (Pausinystalia yohimbe): This herb has been one of the most popular herbs to treat impotence in use today. The active compounds in yohimbe has been extensively studied and its effectiveness is proven and well documented in the case of erectile dysfunction. The problem with yohimbe is it can have some side effects, such as nausea, insomnia and nervousness. Therefore, you should notify your doctor of any plan to take yohimbe so he or she can properly monitor you during its use.
Sarsaparilla (smilax sarsaparilla) : Often incorrectly pronounced "sassparilla", sarsaparilla root has been used by natives of tropical regions of Central and South America and the Caribbean for longer than recorded history. European explorers brought the root back to Europe from the New World when they noticed the strong detoxifier, anti-bacterial, digestive, pain reliever, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties it contained. For many years sarsaparilla was used to treat syphilis well into the early 20th century. It has also been used to treat impotency (erectile dysfunction, or ED) and sterility in native cultures. The root contains certain plant steroids and saponins that may be involved in helping the body to produce testosterone
Horny Goat Weed: (Epimedium sagittatum, Epimedium grandiflorum) : The name says it all! This herbs supposedly got its name from a goat herder who noticed his goats would become- well, let's say particularly frisky - after ingesting the herb. Horny goat weed improves circulation, increases sperm production, and reduces fatigue - all in the service of increased sexual desire. This herb helps men gain and maintain an erection, improves stamina, and enhances the pleasure of sexual experiences.
Maca (Lepidium Meyenii): Believe it or not, Maca is actually related to mustard and is found in the high elevations of Peru. The herb acts to improve energy, stamina, and overall sexual functioning. This is why it is known as the "Peruvian ginseng". Maca also improves the strength and motility of sperm and can help regulate the hormone levels in the body to increase energy production.
Fo-Ti (Polygonum multiflorum): Fo Ti has been used in traditional Chinese Medicine for many a millenium. Fo-Ti is often considered perhaps one of the best impotence medications available and there have been many studies to demonstrate its effectiveness on erectile dysfunction.
