Used traditionally in the treatment of migraines. Feverfew can have herb drug interactions with the following medications-
Blood-thinning medications - Feverfew can inhibit the activity of platelets, a substance that plays a role in blood clotting. Individuals taking blood-thinning medications such as aspirin and warfarin should consult a healthcare practitioner before taking this herb.
NSAIDs - Research has not been fully conclusive regarding the interaction between Feverfew and conventional medications. However, there is a potential interaction with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Studies with Ibuprofen, for instance, have demonstrated a decreased effectiveness of these drugs when used along with Feverfew preparations. Conversely, it is also possible that NSAIDs could inhibit the effectiveness of Feverfew as well.
It is advised not to take Feverfew with other medications prescribed for migraines, as this may lead to a rise in heart rate or blood pressure. Feverfew has the potential to interact with the anti-coagulant medication warfarin, increasing its blood-thinning properties.
